Galantos Pharma GmbH is thriving to become a leading company for the development of drugs for brain diseases, especially Alzheimer’s Dementia (AD).

In this endeavor, the company makes use of the extensive skill, knowledge and experience of its founders, management and advisors in the areas of molecular neurosciences, CNS pharmacology, chemical synthesis, recombinant technology and molecular immunology.

The goals of the present drug development program are:

• The clinical development of Memogain®, a novel Alzheimer dementia (AD) drug with improved effectiveness and no side effects;
• To develop neuroprotective drugs, by inhibiting apoptosis through activation of Ca2+ gating nicotinic receptors in the CNS. Such drugs have been shown to slow down or halt neurodegeneration in preclinical models;
• To develop new drugs capable of opposing Aß-toxicity, a hallmark in AD, induced by nicotinic receptor blockade and resulting in neuronal apoptosis. Such drugs are thought to halt or prevent neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease.
• To fully exploit the very safe APL mechanism, identified by Galantos' founder,  for cognition improvement and halting neuronal death in neurodegenerative diseases.
